Welcome Pack

Welcome to Gartnagrenach

Gartnagrenach is a traditional working small holding. The house and steadings date back to the late 19th Century and has been Sheena’s family home for over 50 years. Within the farm grounds you can still see signs of “Old Gartnagrenach”, a farming croft which dates back to mediaeval times. STL Licence AR000518F.

The full range of white goods is available for your use, including washing machine and dishwasher, instructions for use in the welcome pack. Satellite TV and a Bluetooth stereo are in both reception rooms, along with DVD players and a selection of DVDs.  A games console is in the 1st reception room and a selection of games, jigsaws, boules set, swingball, badminton racquets etc is kept in the hall cupboard. Books and other reading materials are in the bookcase in the porch.

There is secure storage and drying room for your fishing equipment, boats, canoes, bicycles etc as well as any outdoor clothing.   Within this shed there is a tumble dryer for your use in case of inclement weather, it is Argyll!  Clothes airers can either be used in the shed or in the utility area beside the kitchen, the radiator here is good for drying damp items

Please do not wear your outdoor footwear in the carpeted areas of the house. A rack is provided at the back door or if your footwear is really muddy please leave in the drying shed.

You have sole use of front garden area and the gravelled patio area to the rear of the house. Benches, table, additional camping chairs and a charcoal BBQ for outside use (weather dependant!)

We require occasional use of the steadings and sheds external to the house. This will be kept to minimum and every effort made to avoid interfering with your enjoyment of your holiday. As we need to keep the grounds tidy for you, including grass cutting, there may be the occasional time that this would be done whilst you are here, although every effort will be made to avoid this.

Water

The house is served by a private, treated water supply, from a natural spring source. Whilst the supply is plentiful we ask that you be considerate in its usage. Please don’t leave taps running unnecessarily. You may prefer to use bottled water for cooking or drinking, and an initial supply is provided.

Drainage

The house drainage is connected to a traditional septic tank. Please do not flush any items apart from toilet paper down the toilet.  Hygiene bags and a bin are provided for your use.

Showering

We would ask that you open the bathroom window when and/or after showering.

Cooking

Dual fuel cooker, gas hob with electric oven and extractor hood. Microwave with multigrill function in utility area. You may need to open the kitchen window for additional ventilation.

If you are using the oven and not using a covered dish please cover any foods that are oily or require oil with tin foil (supplied).

Cleaning

We provide ecover cleaning products for use in the washing machine, dishwasher and bathroom and kitchen. These are all septic tank friendly!  A vacuum cleaner for your use is stored in the hall cupboard under the stairs.

Pets

Well behaved pets are welcome at Gartnagrenach but ask that you do not allow them on the furniture or beds. We can supply, if needed, a dog bed, bowls and towels. There is an outside tap to allow you to clean your pets down and use of the outside drying room before bringing them into the house. As you are in a rural area there may be livestock in our fields.

Departure

We do not impose a cleaning charge so ask that you leave the house as you found it.

Bedding and towels – we don’t ask that you strip the beds (unless you want to!) but it would be appreciated if you could leave all used towels in the utility area.

During your stay

If you have any problems or issues with the house during your stay please do not hesitate to let us know. We cannot rectify them if we are not aware.

You can contact us either by calling up to the house or by ‘phoning 01546 850360 or 07796357094 or if we are out leave us a note or a message.

I have many happy memories of growing up here and why we made our home here. We both hope that you also take away some happy memories of your holiday at Gartnagrenach.
